Bootsy

- son of Al Capone & Princess Snowball

George

"George" - originally "Bootsy" was the son of  "Al Capone" & "Princess Snowball". He was a nice but boring cat, who gratefully ate a regular meal, and was loving in his own, quiet way: "Incurious George"...

Thank God he was not like his father Al Capone, who was a scruffy; mangy; black cat with a pure white 'necktie' down his neck and chest. He used to rule the neighbourhood without question.

His mum, "Snowball" - later to be renamed: "Princess" - was pure white - and, seemingly, deaf - with a blue eye and a green eye. There are many stories I could tell about her...God willing, I will do so in the future.

One story sticks out in my mind:

It was a fine Sunday morning and all the family were on the verandah, sitting in the sun and chatting about our recent events. The conversation turned to the band of roaming, mongrel dogs that were terrifying the local cat population. We were reflecting on the latest bad news, when, around the corner came the very pack of vicious dogs in question.

They were defiantly strutting up the middle of the road, proud and deadly. As they got opposite us, they stopped and checked us out...

...suddenly, Princess walked between us, down the path, under the gate, across the footpath, over the verge of grass and onto the road.

We held our collective breath...

Princess Snowball then began to wind her way between the legs of these domesticated wolves, rubbing-up against them, (purring, I am sure).

The wolf-pack were startled, to say the least. They looked at this peaceful creature, and then at each other, with eyes wide in shock... Then, as Princess wound her way, loving them, got to the last dog - the hackles - ( the fur between the lower neck and the front shoulders ) - started to rise...their teeth were bared...as they looked again at this little blob of white...and then they looked once more at each other, and got ready to attack...

At the last moment, Princess Snowball dived under Dad's car.

The defeated and very puzzled murderous pack of dogs had met their match. After a while, they moved on...

We all breathed a sigh of relief. The Sonday school bus soon arrived and took us children off to Sunday school, - ( this was before I gave up on them, as they could not answer my questions about Mum and Dad splitting-up...)

Donkeys-years later, after I had been saved, I read in the Bible about Jesus saying that we followers should 'love our enemies'. I remembered the example given to our pagan family by Princess Snowball so many years before, that went 'over-our-heads' at the time, she was 'walking-the-talk' and showed us an example of 'heaven-on-earth'.

The kingdom of Heaven is close by...to you and yours too...

May God bless everyone who reads this true story!
